On December 30, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Hero-Arkadag and the President of Uzbekistan exchanged heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming New Year, wishing the peoples of both countries peace, well-being, and further prosperity in 2025.
Taking the opportunity, the head of Uzbekistan conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that our country considers mutually beneficial relations with its close neighbor and reliable partner, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as an important direction of the state foreign policy course. Today, fruitful cooperation between the two countries is based on strong ties of friendship and a firm political will to comprehensively strengthen interaction in various fields.
In this regard, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that bilateral cooperation in recent years has reached a qualitatively new level of development.
As noted, at present, the partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan covers a wide range of areas. It was also emphasized that there is a huge untapped potential, the realization of which will contribute to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial relations.
Along with this, great attention is paid to the importance of strengthening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties.
During the conversation, it was noted that on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fragi, whose poetic heritage has entered the treasury of world literature, various cultural events were held in Uzbekistan. This confirms the reverence in the friendly country for the creative heritage of the outstanding poet, contributing to the further rapprochement and mutual enrichment of the cultures of the two neighboring peoples, who have common historical roots.
Hero-Arkadag confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness for further cooperation and support for proposals and initiatives to expand strategic partnership with fraternal Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, once again congratulated each other on the New Year 2025, wishing good health, happiness, and success in their responsible state activities.
