Turkmenistan and the EU Expand Parliamentary Cooperation

The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, held a meeting with the European Union's Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais, during which the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening interparliamentary dialogue. This was reported by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The meeting focused on discussing Turkmenistan’s foreign policy priorities and cooperation mechanisms with the European Union. Representatives of both sides highlighted the effectiveness of existing formats of interaction, including the Interparliamentary Dialogue, the Human Rights Dialogue, and consultative meetings between foreign affairs agencies.

Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in various fields. Gulmanova and Stiprais noted the steady development of relations between Turkmenistan and the EU, emphasizing the importance of experience exchange in legislative and parliamentary activities, as well as the organization of joint training seminars.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their mutual interest in continuing dialogue and strengthening relations based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and trust. The agreements reached provide a solid foundation for further strengthening interparliamentary ties between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
