Turkmenistan and Pakistan Discuss Cooperation in Energy Sector

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz baz Sharif. This was reported by the State News Agency TDH.

During the conversation, the parties noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation in a wide range of areas, including political and diplomatic, cultural and humanitarian, trade and economic, energy and transport and communications. The interlocutors emphasized the need to further strengthen the bilateral partnership and fill it with new content.

Particular attention during the conversation was paid to interaction in the energy sector, which is a priority area of ​​Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation. A clear example of effective cooperation is the implementation of such transnational projects as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, a high-voltage power transmission line and a fiber-optic communication system along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, emphasizing the strategic importance of these projects, expressed Pakistan’s interest in further developing cooperation in the energy sector. The head of the Pakistani government also congratulated the Turkmen side on the UN’s declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” at the initiative of Turkmenistan, noting that this decision demonstrates the broad support of the world community for the policy of positive neutrality pursued by Ashgabat. The Prime Minister assured that Pakistan will take an active part in the international events planned within the framework of this initiative.

During the telephone conversation, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif invited the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Pakistan at any time convenient for them.
