President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri, during which the diplomat presented his credentials to the head of state, reports TDH.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations. It was noted that trade turnover between the two countries has been steadily increasing, and all the necessary conditions exist for further intensification of cooperation.
Among the promising areas of Turkmen-Saudi cooperation highlighted were the fuel and energy sector, trade, investment, transport and communications, chemical industry, as well as textile and agriculture. The meeting participants also emphasized the considerable potential for joint efforts in the fields of culture, science, and the arts.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and brotherhood with Saudi Arabia, describing the bilateral dialogue as a model of cooperation based on trust, mutual respect, and equality.
The successful cooperation of the two countries within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was also noted. The President expressed gratitude to the Saudi side for supporting Turkmenistan’s initiatives and proposals on the international stage.
In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a traditionally mutually beneficial dialogue with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and emphasized the importance of studying the rich historical and cultural heritage of both nations.
