Turkmenistan to host the first ECO Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development

The first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (ECO) will be held in Arkadag in April 2025, TDH reports.

The event is expected to be attended by heads and representatives of ECO member States, international organizations, diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of national ministries and departments.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamurad Geldimyradov reported on the preparations for the forum. The main objective of the event will be to strengthen partnership in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the ECO region.

The participants will discuss practical steps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and develop a comprehensive strategy for cooperation with the identification of priority areas. An official document is expected to be adopted following the meeting.

After hearing the report on the preparations, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the special importance of developing relations with the Organization for Economic Cooperation for the country. The Head of State instructed to ensure a high level of organization of the upcoming forum.
