06.05.2025

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhallyev and the hakims (governors) of the velayats (regions) to discuss the current state of affairs in the agricultural sector and regional development, as reported by TDH.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhallyev presented a report on the progress of seasonal agricultural work. Currently, wheat fields are being maintained in accordance with agrotechnical standards. Preparations are underway for elevators, combines, and other machinery ahead of the upcoming grain harvest campaign.

In cotton fields, charging irrigation is being conducted, while inter-row cultivation, thinning, and weeding are underway in areas with sprouted crops. Necessary care is being provided for spring potato plantings, vegetable-melon crops, and other agricultural produce. Rice sowing continues in the Dashoguz Velayat.

During the silkworm cocoon harvesting season, regions are tending to silkworm eggs and collecting mature cocoons. To prevent fires in forests, pastures, and farmlands, firebreaks are being established, and territories are being kept clean.

Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of steadily increasing agricultural production volumes and comprehensively developing the sector. The head of state instructed officials to maintain strict oversight of all agrotechnical measures for cotton and wheat cultivation, including pest prevention in grain fields.

The President highlighted the need for proper cultivation of vegetable-melon crops, timely completion of rice sowing in the Dashoguz Velayat, and efficient organization of silkworm egg care and cocoon harvesting.

Berdimuhamedov ordered timely settlements between agricultural producers and service enterprises, as well as enhanced monitoring of fire prevention measures in forests and farmlands. Special attention was given to the quality and deadlines of regional tasks under the 2022–2028 Program for Socio-Economic Development and the National Rural Development Program.
