Turkmenistan records growth in transit cargo turnover

21.05.2025

In the first four months of this year, Turkmenistan demonstrated a noticeable increase in transit traffic. From January to April, more than 2 million tons of cargo passed through the country's state border, which is almost 20% higher than the same period in 2024.

Automobile transit showed a particularly high increase - almost 25%. Rail freight also grew - by 6%, MIC reports.

This dynamics was facilitated by targeted work to modernize the country's transport and logistics infrastructure. The capabilities of existing transport corridors were expanded, customs clearance processes were optimized, and favorable conditions for the prompt delivery of goods were created.

The reconstruction of border checkpoints also played a significant role. Thanks to the improvement of the technical base and the introduction of digital solutions, throughput capacity increased and the clearance of transit goods accelerated.
