President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Mohammed Jalud, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects for developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IWF, as well as the further promotion of weightlifting in the country, TDH reports.

Mohammed Jalud expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Turkmenistan and noted the country's significant successes in developing sports. The IWF President recalled with particular warmth his previous visits to Ashgabat in 2017 to participate in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as well as in 2018 during the World Weightlifting Championships.

The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to the development of physical education and sports, carrying out large-scale work to promote a healthy lifestyle and attract young people to sports. The country has created a modern sports infrastructure that allows it to host world-class competitions and train high-class athletes.

During the meeting, the active participation of Turkmenistan in the activities of international sports organizations, including the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and specialized federations was noted, which demonstrates the country's commitment to the principles of sports diplomacy.
