Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba Strengthen Partnership in Hydrogen Energy

Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba are deepening their partnership in the field of hydrogen energy.

A meeting took place in Tokyo between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, A. Bayramov, the President of the University of Tsukuba, Kyosuke Nagata, and the Head of the Japan-Turkmen Economic Cooperation Committee, Hiroyuki Subai. The parties discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the cultural, educational, and trade-economic spheres.

According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan, special attention was given during the talks to the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in joint scientific research on hydrogen energy. This memorandum was signed on April 7, 2025, between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba via direct video link.

At the beginning of the meeting, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for conferring the honorary title of "Honorary Doctor" of the University of Tsukuba upon the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The title was awarded during the official visit of the Turkmen leader to Japan from April 13–15, 2025.

The meeting participants agreed to continue working on the implementation of the hydrogen energy cooperation agreement, which opens new prospects for scientific and technological partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.
