The United Arab Emirates intends to double trade with Turkmenistan in the coming years. This was stated by Ahmed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, in an article published in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper on the occasion of the national holiday – State Proclamation Day.

"Trade turnover between the two countries reached 1,759 billion USD in 2024 (non-oil trade), representing a 75% increase compared to 2023. The UAE aims to double this figure in the coming years," the diplomat noted.

According to him, the UAE ranks third among Turkmenistan's trading partners for the first nine months of 2025. The ambassador emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector, noting ADNOC's entry into the Turkmen market.

He reminded that in May 2024, a production-sharing contract for the development of gas fields in Block 1 in the Caspian Sea was signed between XRG (ADNOC's investment arm), Petronas, and state-owned enterprises of Turkmenistan. A long-term gas sales agreement was also concluded.
