The President of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan, who is on a visit to Ashgabat, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry conveyed to the head of Turkmenistan warm greetings and best wishes from Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and the country's Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He stressed that Tehran attaches great importance to strengthening the traditionally fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov, warmly welcoming the Iranian minister, conveyed his best wishes in return to the top leadership of Iran. He expressed confidence that the upcoming bilateral negotiations will be fruitful and will contribute to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.

The Head of State noted that one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is multifaceted cooperation with neighboring states based on friendship, mutual respect and trust.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the successful development of political and diplomatic dialogue at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations based on traditions of respect and mutual understanding.

The Head of Turkmenistan called Iran one of the most important trade and economic partners of the country. He emphasized the role of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and expressed confidence that the implementation of projects in the energy and transport sectors would give impetus to the bilateral partnership.

At the same time, special emphasis was placed on the importance of finding new forms and methods of interaction in the fuel and energy complex in accordance with modern requirements, and enhancing relations in the fields of energy export and transit.

It was also emphasized that the humanitarian sphere is an integral component of the Turkmen-Iranian dialogue. This is evidenced by the mutual visits of the delegations of the two countries, the holding of joint cultural events, in particular, Days of Culture, various exhibitions and other events.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan wished each other good health and success, expressing firm confidence in the further expansion and strengthening of relations between friendly fraternal states based on good neighborliness and mutual interest.
