Turkmenistan marks four years since the election and inauguration of Serdar Berdimuhamedov on March 19, state media reported.
Turkmen citizens supported the initiative of National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to promote young leaders with innovative and forward-looking thinking, a high level of education and a broad outlook, capable of assuming responsibility for the country’s future, according to the report.
Presidential elections were held March 12, 2022, on a competitive basis in accordance with national electoral legislation and generally recognized norms of international law. Serdar Berdimuhamedov won the vote, securing a majority of ballots cast.
During the inauguration ceremony held March 19, 2022, at the Ruhyyet Palace in Ashgabat, Berdimuhamedov said the trust placed in him by the Turkmen people requires dedicated efforts to ensure the country’s prosperity, strengthen the state and improve citizens’ well-being.
Turkmenistan continues its policy of neutrality under Berdimuhamedov’s leadership, demonstrating commitment to peace, good neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation on the international stage.
Under Article 68 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the president is the head of state and executive authority, as well as the highest official in the country.
