Turkmenistan, Malaysia Plan Creation of Joint Agricultural Enterprises

Turkmenistan is ready to expand trade and economic cooperation with Malaysia, including the establishment of joint ventures in the agricultural sector, the digitalization of the industry, the exchange of experience in the agro-industrial complex, the development of export logistics and environmentally friendly production, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Muhammetniyaz Mashalov said during a meeting with Malaysia’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Haji Mohamad bin Sabu.

According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia, the sides discussed the introduction of digital technologies and precision farming systems to increase yields, the development of seed production and livestock breeding, the use of drought-resistant crops, the modernization of irrigation systems and efficient water resource management, as well as simplifying phytosanitary and veterinary controls.

The sides also proposed preparing a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia.

For his part, Haji Mohamad bin Sabu noted that trade and economic cooperation between Malaysia and Turkmenistan has been developing effectively within the framework of positive bilateral relations and emphasized the need to intensify cooperation in the agricultural sector. He also proposed establishing mutual imports and exports of fresh fruit and vegetable products.

In addition, the Turkmen side invited Malaysian specialists to take part in the Agro Pack Turkmenistan 2026 international specialized exhibition and the Food Turkmenistan 2026 international exhibition, scheduled to be held from May 12 to 14, 2026, in Ashgabat.
