Turkmen and Austrian business representatives discussed opportunities to establish joint ventures, increase bilateral trade, and launch new industrial projects during a Turkmen-Austrian roundtable held in Ashgabat. The event took place as part of the 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Austrian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, the International Information Center (IIC) reported on Thursday.
The meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan brought together members of the Austrian delegation led by Elisabeth Weissenböck, also co-chairs the Austrian side of the Joint Turkmen-Austrian Commission. Representatives of relevant ministries, government agencies, and business circles of Turkmenistan also attended the event.
The participants reviewed the current state of trade and economic cooperation and discussed prospects for expanding collaboration in several sectors. The talks focused on opportunities in energy, transport, logistics, and high technologies. The Austrian delegation stay in Ashgabat until June 14.
Following the plenary session, the participants held bilateral meetings on cooperation prospects in energy, transport, and logistics, as well as opportunities to launch new projects. During B2B negotiations, the two sides discussed expanding industrial product supplies and strengthening business ties.
During the visit, Elisabeth Weissenböck and Thomas Schuller-Götzburg met with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahri Bashimova. The parties focused on increasing bilateral trade, strengthening economic cooperation, and expanding collaboration under the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative.
