Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Cooperation in the Customs Sector

During the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Azerbaijan, important documents aimed at developing customs cooperation between two countries were signed, according to State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

Among the signed documents are Technical conditions for the exchange of information on the movement of goods in mutual trade, as well as a Protocol on cooperation in the field of customs statistics of mutual trade.

Following the meeting, the approved Technical Conditions, to enable the establishment of a mechanism for the regular exchange of information on goods between the customs authorities of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. This will help accelerate customs procedures, reduce the time required for cargo clearance and increase the transparency of foreign trade operations.

In addition, the sides signed a Protocol on cooperation in the field of customs statistics of mutual trade. The document is aimed at improving the exchange of statistical data and ensuring more accurate recording of trade flows between the two countries.

As noted in the report, the implementation of the reached agreements is expected to contribute to the growth of mutual trade turnover, the more efficient use of the region’s transit potential and the further development of trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
