Turkmenistan will take part in the upcoming summit of the Organization of Turkic States and the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday, according to Turkmen state media.
At the start of the call, Erdoğan congratulated Berdimuhamedov on his birthday and wished him good health and success in his public duties. They discussed the development of bilateral relations and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
Berdimuhamedov noted high-level visits, meetings and talks between the two countries' leaders have played an important role in expanding political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. He also thanked Erdoğan for visiting Turkmenistan in December last year to attend celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.
The two sides also reviewed trade and economic cooperation. Berdimuhamedov emphasized Türkiye remains one of Turkmenistan's leading foreign trade partners and noted that the ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation was recently held in Ashgabat. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further expand cooperation with Türkiye in the energy, transport, communications and logistics sectors.
The sides also discussed strengthening cooperation in culture, education, healthcare, sports and the media. Berdimuhamedov thanked the Turkish side for providing educational opportunities for Turkmen students studying at Turkish universities and invited Erdogan to visit Turkmenistan at a mutually convenient time.
At the end of the call, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged wishes for good health, success in their work, peace and prosperity for the peoples of both countries.
