Oleg Kononenko, a native of Turkmenistan, and Nikolai Chub went into outer space for the first time in 2024

On April 25, 2024, cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub performed the first spacewalk this year .

Their main tasks were the installation of scientific equipment Quartz and TKK-KM on the Poisk module, the full disclosure of the second panel of the small-sized radar of the Napor-miniRSA experiment on the Nauka module.

If there was time, it was planned to dismantle one of the two containers of the Biorisk-MSN scientific equipment on the Search and deploy a pressure and deposition monitoring unit, as well as take swab samples from the surface of the Nauka module (the Test experiment).

The duration of the release was 6 hours and 36 minutes. Kononenko worked in the Orlan-ISS spacesuit No. 5 with red stripes (for him this is the 7th spacewalk), Chub - in a spacesuit with blue stripes (for him this is the 2nd exit).

The release was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Roscosmos state Corporation.

It was the first spacewalk for Russian cosmonauts in 2024.

Oleg Kononenko was born and raised in the east of Turkmenistan, in Turkmenabat. In 2019, he was awarded the title of Hero of Turkmenistan.
