On August 26, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairperson of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova accepted credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Turkmenistan Sok Chea.
On behalf of the head of state, the head of the national Parliament congratulated the plenipotentiary representative of the friendly country on his appointment to the responsible post and wished him success in fulfilling the important diplomatic mission entrusted to him.
Expressing gratitude for the kind words, Mr. Sok Chea conveyed warm greetings from the top leadership of Cambodia to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressing wishes of well-being and prosperity to all the Turkmen people.
During the meeting, the diplomat was informed about the priorities of Turkmenistan's domestic policy, which has a pronounced social focus. In this context, the importance of the comprehensive programs implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, covering all spheres of life of the state and society, was noted. Particular emphasis was placed on the foreign policy of our country, based on the principles of positive neutrality, peacefulness and equal constructive partnership.
During the conversation, the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in various fields became the subject of an interested exchange of opinions. The Ambassador was also acquainted with the structure and activities of the Mejlis, its role in ensuring the legislative and legal framework for the socio-economic transformations and democratic reforms carried out in Turkmenistan. In this regard, it was noted that interaction between the parliaments will serve to enrich the content and strengthen Turkmen-Cambodian relations.
Having emphasized that it is a great honor for him to represent the Kingdom of Cambodia in neutral Turkmenistan, which is implementing a peaceful, constructive policy that has received recognition from the international community, the diplomat assured that he will fully contribute to the development of a traditionally friendly, fruitful interstate dialogue.
