The most important area of Turkmenistan's international economic cooperation is partnership in the energy sector.
Based on the principles of diversification, which serve as the foundation of the national energy policy, our country is actively developing close cooperation with other States and international organizations in the field of energy.
Today, in the era of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, program reforms for the development of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, are being successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
One of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the comprehensive development of relations with the countries of the world, primarily close neighbors, which are based on friendship and trust. At the same time, special importance is attached to multifaceted cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As we reported earlier, following the results of the meetings held in July this year, an important agreement was reached. In particular, the Turkmen and Iranian sides signed a contract for the purchase and sale of natural gas in the amount of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year. According to the document, Turkmen natural gas will be supplied to the Republic of Iraq in transit through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the "SWAP" scheme.
Also, at the recent talks in Tehran between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, it was emphasized that in the near future, under the "SWAP" scheme, it is planned to export Turkmen natural gas to the Republic of Iraq and further to Turkey.
Thus, the above factors open up new prospects for energy cooperation in the region and can play a key role in ensuring the energy security of the world.
