At the first meeting of ambassadors of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Central Asia and Mongolia in Brussels, Turkmenistan put forward an initiative to strengthen interregional cooperation. Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov proposed creating a permanent mechanism of interaction, including regular meetings at the level of foreign ministers, as well as organizing trade forums and cultural exchanges between the countries of the two regions. This is stated in the message of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.
The key topic of the meeting was the discussion of the results of the GCC-Central Asia summit, held in July 2023 in Saudi Arabia. The participants emphasized the importance of developing economic partnership, especially in the areas of trade, investment and transport and logistics networks. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation with the European Union and the upcoming CA-EU and GCC-EU summits.
The speech of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan focused on the role of the Gulf countries as stable investors and reliable partners. It was noted that since independence, companies from the GCC countries have played a key role in the development of Turkmenistan, especially in the oil and gas sector and the development of transport corridors.
The diplomats noted that the meeting was an important platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences, expressing hope for the implementation of specific projects that contribute to the development of both regions.
The event ended with a reaffirmation of the parties' commitment to continuing the dialogue and strengthening cooperation between the GCC countries and Central Asia.
