Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, during which they discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
The meeting was held within the framework of the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Pakistan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
During the talks, the parties considered a wide range of issues related to the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership and confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to the need to intensify joint actions to implement major international economic projects, such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the
Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) high-voltage power transmission line. Meredov and Sharif emphasized the importance of finalizing the work on preparing bilateral documents concerning the practical implementation of these projects.
In addition, issues of transport and logistics cooperation were discussed, including partnership with large Pakistani companies such as National Logistics Corporation (NLC). This cooperation will significantly increase the volume of transportation along the China-Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan route with access to the Central Asian and Caspian regions.
The parties also discussed other issues of cooperation of mutual interest and confirmed their readiness to continue to expand interstate cooperation.
