Kazakhstan is considering the possibility of importing natural gas from Turkmenistan, according to the LS news agency.
According to Kazakhstan's national gas company 'QazaqGaz', the volumes of supply will be determined by the parties based on commercial and technical conditions.
As part of the cooperation with the State Concern 'Turkmengaz', a number of initiatives are being studied.
In particular, discussions are planned on prospective areas in both countries for joint geological exploration. Further work in this direction will require the signing of relevant investment agreements.
Currently, Kazakhstan's domestic market is supplied with domestic raw materials. Resources are imported only during peak consumption periods.
Earlier, the head of 'QazaqGaz', Sanzhar Zharkeshov, noted that gas consumption in Kazakhstan could double in the next 10-15 years.
