A meeting of the delegation of Russian Railways OJSC with representatives of Turkmendemiryollary OJSC took place in Ashgabat. It discussed the opening of a representative office of the Russian railway holding in Turkmenistan and the project of the Ashgabat-Arkadag passenger electric train.
General Representative of Russian Railways JSC in Turkmenistan Ivan Tonkikh spoke about plans for developing cooperation in these areas, reports SNG.Today.
Regarding the representative office, he said that the registration procedure will be com

pleted in February, and full-fledged work will begin in March. – The Ashgabat office of Russian Railways will represent the interests of the parties and accelerate the implementation of long-term projects. The process of freight and transit railway transportation between our countries will continue,” Tonkikh noted.
According to him, the opening of the office means serious plans to deepen integration, digitalization, exchange of documents, launch joint projects, and increase cargo turnover. The goal is an integrated approach to the interaction of railway organizations of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
Also during the visit, the Ashgabat-Arkadag passenger express project was discussed. Russian Railways proposes to consider several technological options.
