Turkmenistan is finalizing the modernization of its civil aviation system. Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, extensive efforts are underway to enhance the material and technical infrastructure of the country’s civil aviation sector. In recent years, modern international airports have been commissioned in the capital, Ashgabat, as well as in the cities of Turkmenbashi, Turkmenabat, and Kerki, according to the state news agency TDH.

The construction of a new international airport in the Balkan province is in its final stage and is part of the government's broader policy to modernize the country’s transport infrastructure. All airports are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and meet international standards.

Strategically located at the crossroads of Central Asia and Europe, Turkmenistan seeks to leverage its transport and transit potential in the interest of global connectivity. The country places great importance on strengthening cooperation with leading international organizations in the transport sector.
