Turkmenistan to host Interparliamentary Forum as part of UN conference in Avaza

Turkmenistan is actively preparing for the Inter-Parliamentary Forum, which will be held as part of the UN Conference on Landlocked Countries on August 5-8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the Caspian Sea coast. This was reported by the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, at an extended visiting session of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Balkan velayat, TDH writes.

The forum is aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary contacts, as well as familiarizing the world community with the activities on legislative support of the positive experience accumulated as a result of the implementation of the policy of neutrality and international initiatives of Turkmenistan, Gulmanova noted.

A special organizing committee has been created in the Mejlis to organize and widely cover the upcoming event, which will coordinate all preparatory work.

Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of careful preparation for international events of this scale. It is necessary to ensure proper preparation for the international conference and the Inter-Parliamentary Forum and take an active part in the organizational work to ensure their high level, the head of state noted.

The UN conference in Avaza is expected to be attended by representatives of 32 landlocked developing countries, delegates from 47 small island states, high-ranking representatives of 49 least developed countries, as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
