The Honor Guard Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan marched ceremonially across Red Square in Moscow as part of the military parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Turkmen servicemen took part in the large-scale event along with representatives of the armed forces of Russia and other countries, TDH reports.

As we reported earlier, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Moscow on a working visit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, personally attended the ceremonial parade.

The participation of Turkmen servicemen in the Victory Parade symbolizes deep respect for the common historical memory and emphasizes the significant contribution of the Turkmen people to achieving Victory over fascism. Thousands of Turkmen citizens fought valiantly on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, demonstrating heroism and high fighting spirit. For their courage, 104 Turkmen citizens were awarded the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union", and 19 front-line soldiers became full cavaliers of the Order of "Glory". Many thousands of citizens of Turkmenistan received military orders and medals.

The names of all the war heroes, both those who died and those who returned with Victory, are immortalized in the multi-volume publications "Hatyra" and "Şöhrat" (editor's note: "Memory" and "Glory").
