On the eve of the spring holiday of Novruz Bayram, the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan held a large-scale environmental campaign to plant evergreen trees and roses on the territory of the embassy. The event was timed to coincide with the spring planting campaign, which was launched on March 16 by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The initiative was also dedicated to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, who paid special attention to environmental protection and landscaping.
About 60 evergreen shemshat trees brought from Turkey and 20 Dutch roses were planted on the territory specially prepared for the creation of the garden named after Heydar Aliyev. The initiator of the action, founder of the Turkmen Khazar Yollary company Gashim Saftarov, shared the idea of perpetuating the memory of Heydar Aliyev, known for his humanism, patriotism and love of humanity, by creating a green oasis in Ashgabat.
As Saftarov noted, Heydar Aliyev has always attached great importance to ecology, cleanliness of the environment, landscaping and promotion of environmental culture. Today, many reserves, parks and green spaces in Azerbaijan are named after him.
In 2010, the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan, with the blessing of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, published the book “Heydar Aliyev” from the “Life of Remarkable People” series, translated into Turkmen with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy.
The initiative to create a garden named after Heydar Aliyev in Ashgabat is a symbol of the unbreakable friendship and brotherhood of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. A landscaped area with a modern irrigation system, a lawn from Norway and night lighting will become a green oasis, perpetuating the memory of an outstanding figure whose ideas of environmental education and respect for nature are shared by both peoples.
