As is known, the issues of democratization of society are among the important directions of the transformative policy of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Elections are one of the basic political rights of citizens in public life and a source of democracy formation.

Currently, preparations are underway for the elections of deputies of the Mejlis in the electoral districts No. 1 "Garashsyzlyk", No. 2 "Bitaraplyk" and No. 6 "Kopetdag" of the city of Ashgabat to replace those who left early, which will be held on July 7, 2024.

In accordance with the plan of approved measures for the preparation and organized conduct of the expression of the will of citizens, as well as to familiarize with the amendments and additions to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, a training seminar was held for members of three district, Ashgabat city and election commissions of the Berkararlyk and Kopetdag etraps at the Mekan Palace with the participation of representatives of the Central Election Commission, members of political parties and public organizations.

During the seminar, the legislation on the conduct of elections, the procedure for holding upcoming elections, including the nomination and registration of candidates, the rights and obligations of members of election commissions, the use of electoral documents, and issues of creating the necessary conditions for the proper provision of electoral rights of citizens of the country were considered. An exchange of views took place on the organizational work for this important socio-political event.

It was noted that Turkmenistan is at a new stage in the development of parliamentarism and democratic processes in our Homeland, the diversification of which was initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and is now successfully implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as an urgent task of state building.

The participants of the seminar agreed that the current socio-political campaign will be another important step towards deepening democratic processes that serve as a reliable foundation for the successful implementation of reforms aimed at the further prosperity of our Homeland and the well-being of the Turkmen people.
