Turkmenistan and the IAEA are preparing a five-year Framework program for cooperation

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov addressed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a regular online government meeting on Friday with a proposal to prepare a five-year Framework Program for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to official Turkmen media, this document, covering such areas as healthcare, and in particular nuclear medicine, rational use of water resources, agriculture, will serve as a solid foundation for the development of new national projects in priority areas within the framework of the technical partnership between Turkmenistan and the IAEA.

The Deputy Prime Minister also announced the initiative to take appropriate steps to strengthen the international legal framework for multilateral cooperation with the countries of the world within the framework of the IAEA and to elect Turkmenistan to one of the 8 existing structural divisions of the Agency.

The Head of State focused on the established fruitful cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue relevant work in this direction.

Turkmenistan has been a full member of the IAEA since 2016.
