On June 22, a special meeting "Historical and cultural values uniting peoples" was held online at the organization of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and poet of the East, founder of Turkmen classical literature Magtumguly Pragy.
As reported on the website of the Mejlis, the meeting was attended by representatives of the parliaments of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Iran, as well as the Director of the Regional Office of the Specialized Agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Almaty, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Secretary General of the International organizations of Turkic culture (TURKSOY).
The main purpose of the special meeting is the celebration at the parliamentary level of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtumguly Pragy, the development of friendly relations between fraternal peoples and the expansion of inter–parliamentary cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Sultan Raev, Secretary General of TURKSOY, Amir Pirich, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, as well as speakers from the participating countries of the meeting.
The participants of the meeting noted that the consistent holding of such international events is important in the development of cultural, humanitarian relations and relations of friendship and brotherhood between states and peoples of the world, expanding the scale of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the source notes.
It should be recalled that 2024 was declared by the International Organization of Turkic Culture as the "Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world Magtumguly Pragy"
